what upgrades should I make to my thinkpad?
Posted
i bought an i5-6300u thinkpad for 100usd out of impulse because I saw it had a sim card and it was fully functional and i just got really excited. for the price, the computer is excellent. it works completely fine, it has usb-pd charging, has the ability to connect to 4g lte networks with a purchased 4g modem, has a fingerprint sensor, and the processor still works fine.
but i want to make some upgrades to this so it could be the best everyday laptop i have. I have a few already planned. I am planning to change the batteries, upgrade the screen (current screen is terrible--45% ntsc) and add the 4G modem so i don't have to rely on a wifi connection.
should i look out for any other upgrades? i may upgrade ram and storage, but that's way out of my budget for the time being lol

i5-6300u
i mean other than replacing the battery and get an ssd, there's not much else you can do
u can throw more ram at it but that's kinda waste when the CPU is that slow (u series is power efficient not fast)

get more storage in the form of an ssd, i did that for my old compaq cq40 presario (2gb ddr2 ram, core 2 duo, replaced hdd with ssd).
That works like a charm.
1: get more storage with an ssd instead of a hdd
2: dual-boot windows & smth like kubuntu
3: add more virtual memory (dont get more ram, thats a waste when the cpu is slow)
4: done!
