vmware has a free (non commercial use only) download and a paid download (for commercial use)

Anything except VMWare imo. VMware is known to have some exploits, at least to my knowledge, some even still exist to this day. I recommend VirtualBox, it is a pretty good one if you can set it up properly and such!

Windows 10 and 11 have Hyper-V, windows's built in hypervisor. Linux has QEMU using kernel virtual machines, with kvm already being built into the kernel.
