So I'm making a game for android.
Posted
The last few months I was still deciding on what I want to pursue until I get my software engineering degree. I made a website using chakra ui and fastify (not published yet). made simple applications for some local shops, then stopped for about a month doing nothing.
I decided to give game development a shot, that obviously meant I need to learn an engine so I went with unity because it uses C#
I played around with animations before when I was 14, but making them for a game was new to me. anyways I got an idea and had to create the models, here's a bit of the process.

at this stage most of my work resembled a moving buttplug
after a while I understood blender a little more and made the very first snake (yes it's a game with snakes)

snake had broken bones and couldn't slither like a normal snake :( he could've also been on shrooms but I'm not one to judge.
turns out that I didn't really understand how a snake moves.
but I fixed a few bones and colored the bastard and made my first snake render nonetheless.

after this nightmare was over I went to unity and started programming the main view of the game, and it was another nightmare of me trying to figure out why is every single script I made was broken. after a while I finally managed to get things working, but ofcourse I ran into the issue of figuring out touchscreens. after 3 days I managed to get it running to this.

looked like I wanted it so I went back to modelling, and created the other type of snake.

he's evil as you can see.
the main snake looked a little funny and it was too late to modify him so I had to start over and came up with this guy.

here's some of models in the game right now.

the game is gonna be out soon but I'm all up for any ideas I could add or any improvements you think are needed, or even ideas for a new game.
oh also here's a render I was playing around with.

@_realnickk understandable I thought about making a game in Godot but I hate how their physics simulation feel, something is just off about it. And unreal Engine is just another story really

@_realnickk this a bit harsh because every engine has its flaws but at the end you can create your idea in any engine you want, and it would be difficult for the end-user to tell the difference.
Unity just has a worse rep for some reason.

"and it was another nightmare of me trying to figure out why is every single script I made was broken" just another day with working on unity

@Cuby in my opinion godot is pretty great, I used to have a lot of issues with unity
also since I want to make money off a game if I actually ever release one so thats why I use godot :)

@Nolix I think I might migrate to UE after I'm done with this game. But making games depends heavily on modeling and designing more than the engine, which is why I spent probably triple the time (if not more) on blender rather than unity.

@Cuby agreed the engine choice shouldnt be what you'll be concerned about but its still important to pick one that is good for you and your project.
