I recently bought a external monitor for the holidays, and when I plug it in my laptop it drops my frames to 30 fps and my gpu spikes.

 

External Monitor (Spectre) Specs: 

27In

1080p

240Hz

 

Laptop Specs (MSI) Specs: 

 

RTX 3050 Ti

12 Gb Ram

Intel GPU Graphics

11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz

Are you sure the 2nd monitor is set to use Rtx3050 in the Nvidia Display Settings

Check if the Monitor is set up in Nvidia Settings, if it is go to Settings on Windows and find Resolution for your Monitor and set it to a smaller resolution, also it could be not even your GPU and the Game or Application you using isn't set up properly

If your Dual Monitoring it then disables the laptop screen and keep the Monitor Enabled
