The reason why yoink isn't on wearedevs anymore
Posted
Yoink was discovered to have a crypto-miner in it but was not actively mining when the user was using yoink.
Summary:
Where the crypto-miner use to be:

also, sky is a wrd forum mod too: https://wearedevs.net/profile?uid=22229
(just not rlly as active as i am xd)
The infected files claimed to be deleted but some of it is still left:
https://v3rmillion.net/showthread.php?tid=940759
Yoink's dev response:
https://v3rmillion.net/showthread.php?tid=940786
Will yoink be back on wrd you ask?
Prob not beauce even though the miner wasn't actually proven to do anything. It begs the question of why was it still there.
I myself wouldn't trust the dev much anymore, and I think Jon doesn't trust him much too because the exploit was taken down shortly after this came up.
Autho I don't have any official statement from him, but I can assume its a low chance of yoink being added again
If u have any general questions, feel free to reply and ill try to answer them to the best of my abilities
(also if u dont have a verm account and would like to see the contents of the thread, pls let me know which one when u reply)

Yes, this is true. There was apparently an invisible file (crypto miner as what people say it is) in the yoink folder. Unfortunately, I only found out there was a crypto-miner inside of the folder until after this went down. The only way you could see it was if you went into the Winrar folder of Yoink. The file name was "Yoink Executor.exe,". I've deleted that download from every single other place that Yoink is available and have replaced it with a download in which that "Yoink Executor.exe," file is not there.
I know for a fact that the crypto miner was never run at any point when the users used Yoink, or even at all. Jon has Yoink's FULL entire source and he knows there is no code to run anything other than itself and the Bootstrapper. The reason that it isn't coming back to WeAreDevs is that "it is bringing WeAreDev's reputation down" which I fully understand. I should have been more careful checking the folders with Yoink's current popularity.
This same thing happened with the Yoink Lag Switch, in which I proved that I had nothing to do with it by showing the internal code and previous build dates (which was a very long time ago). It sucks that this had to happen, and especially that everyone now thinks I rat people due to this warning. And what's even worse is that I'm getting disliked for something that I took no part of and didn't even know it was happening.
Anyway, I have fully removed Yoink's key system because of this. Yoink is now legitimately free to use, and I have made sure to check EVERY SINGLE folder inside Yoink that there is no extra file lingering that I failed to see.
Regards,
Immortal Donkey

@ProtoxOffical I don't see any "issue" there.
As mentioned, WeAreDevs does not serve any kind of malware. The possibly malicious exploit was taken down as it had a hidden crypto-miner that wasn't actively mining. (which the community had been pointing at for a while, after the miner was "removed", apparently a file of it was still there, which as mentioned was bringing wrd's reputation down and was very suspicious & questionable)
Security issues are taken seriously and WeAreDevs tries not to serve any programs with malicious intents. If somehow there happens to be one, it's taken down on report (unless the issue is unclear, in which case it'd need some investigation).
