Before posting a thread (or a post), make sure that it conforms to certain regulations:

1. Ensure that your thread is on-topic when it comes to the "disputes" section. This section is aimed at issue resolution, community warnings, moderation appeals or moderation issues, or exposing bad practices that affect entire communities.

When it comes to replies, ensure that they are on-topic and actually contribute to the thread. Do not post unnecessary junk such as casual conversation under serious threads.

2. It is important that a thread is not driven by feelings. Drama, flame wars, unnecessary insult-based lash outs or threads that seek only to escalate a situation are not allowed. Information provided in a thread is to be objective and provable.

For example: Do not post community warnings that make accusations against someone without having the power to prove that it indeed happened, unproven arguments that go directly towards an individual are nothing more than slander.

3. Do not post duplicate topics. If a thread already exists on a certain topic, there is no need to create another. If you have extra information that is not mentioned in the original thread - you can simply contact the owner of the thread to add the information in with an edit or reply with the added information.

4. Do not contribute to petty outside drama. There is no need to make community warnings, expose threads or hate threads that revolve around only a group of individuals (and is often driven by anger) that do not affect the WeAreDevs community in any way.

5. Do not release personal information relating to an individual, victim, or perpetrator if their explicit permission was not acquired. An argument can be made that certain information is public, but it is necessary to tell apart public from dug up - public information is information an individual intends to share with the public. Releasing information such as name (or names of family members, relatives, friends), location (such as country, city of residence, postal codes, address, or other forms of location information), personal photos, billing/payment details, descriptions, or any other detail that may deanonymize anyone outside of the internet without their explicit permission is strictly against the rules, and in most countries - illegal.

6. Do not attack an individual for any reason, just because an expose or community warning is performed on them does not give you the right to collectively attack, or defame an individual. This section isn't for stirring up hate or raising internet militias, it's to inform and discuss.

7. Free speech is essential. It is important to distinguish between facts and opinions, if someone states a fact that you disagree with - use logic and a proper debate to solve the issue. If it is an opinion, feel free to simply ignore it or state that you disagree with it and why, do not defame or attack individuals for their personal opinions or takes on the subject, everyone is to have an opinion that does not attack individuals or cause other issues listed in these regulations. Statements such as "no one cares about your opinion" are nothing but petty spam.

8. Use common sense, unwritten rules that are known or even unknown should be followed too, loopholes around the rules will be considered spam and will be deleted instantly when found.

These regulations may be edited in the event of contradictions or loopholes being discovered or if another moderator has a different take on how these regulations play out.
