Should I Switch To Windows 11?

Wondering if my performance on windows 11 would be much worse than windows 10, my performance is pretty good (I'd say) on windows 10.

So I guess I am wondering just about performance really, I want to switch but don't know if I should since I am not a hardware guy; the only issue in health check it said I had was the fact my processor isn't supported, everything else was fine.

Specs:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50GHz

RAM: 16gb

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB

Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks for reading.

You'll have more of the usual per-generation bloat increase, which means that yes, theoretically it'll be slower than Windows 10. Practically, the difference is negliegible to the point where an average user can't discern. Performance alone shouldn't discourage you.

Your CPU is said to be unsupported because it lacks the fTPM 2.0 needed to satisfy Microsoft's need to DRM your system. Jumping back into the realm of reality, your CPU is fully supported by W11, and you can still install and run it just fine.

I think it should be good. However, make sure you have your motherboard compatible. I don't remember the name of the thing you needed to have (something 2.0).

@Texas @VoidableMethod @atari @_realnickk

Thank you Texas, Aja, Atari, and Nickk for the responses! I learnt quite a bit, I think I may switch today and take your guy's advice to debloat it and use some software for the UI/UX if I don't like it.

I appreciate  you guys filling me with someinformation on this topic, I am pretty brain dead when it comes to any hardware type stuff. Thank you again, all your help was much appreciated!

I've personally upgraded to windows 11 and if anything the performance is better for me.

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X

GPU: GTX 1070 16GB

Personally I regretted it when I started using W11. I love the UI though

@Cyros StartAllBack and other projects exist to re-introduce older UI concepts to W11.

I've been able to run Windows 11 on a computer with hardware like:

  • 4 core CPU
  • BIOS, not UEFI
  • 8gb of RAM
  • sh!tty intel graphics card

I had to use RUFUS to allow me to create an installation media that allows me to install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware, but believe it or not, it runs alot faster than windows 10 (atleast for me)

Another good thing is that Windows 11 adds in Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA), which allows you to run android apps. And WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) also has some upgrades in Windows 11, allowing you to run linux apps with GUI support.

If I were you I wouldn't have a problem installing Windows 11. Matter of fact, it would be very beneficial.

don't! I similar specs, and I absolutely hate windows 11 and I regret using it.

at this point I've just been procrastinating making a clean install back to windows 10 ( I'm on the dev channel ).

the windows 10 UI is much better IMO.
